By Mike Spieker REYNOLDS, ND (August 24) - Last weekend the Home of Economy/Reynolds United Co-op team had two races on the schedule, beginning Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. The night began on a positive note as Jordan Adams drove his #20A machine from sixth to fourth in his heat race, which lined him up 12th for the 25-lap, 24-car main event.
Early on Jordan had his Kistler 410 humming right along as he passed his way up to sixth by lap four. Two laps later, Jordan cracked the top five with a pass on Shane Roemeling, but a few restarts at the midpoint of the race would cost Tony Anderson Construction/American Crystal Sugar ride a handful of positions. Jordan was shuffled back to ninth in the closing laps, which is where he took the checkers. On Saturday the crew went west to Devils Lake Speedway for the third and final NOSA event of the season at the Crary, ND quarter-mile. Jordan was hoping to build off of his second place run that he had at Devils Lake back in May to gain some momentum for the last four weeks of the 2016 season. After racing from fourth to second during his heat, Jordan started on the pole for the feature with Nick Omdahl to his outside. Adams won the race into turn one to take the lead over Omdahl and went on to lead the first 10 circuits of the 25-lapper, until the racing surface began to take rubber. That’s when Omdahl was able to reel in Jordan and pass for the lead. “The car was great the first 10 laps,” said Jordan. “Unfortunately, Nick found the rubber first and that was the difference maker. I ran second until we started having power steering leakage and fuel filter problems again. We held on for fifth which is decent considering all things aside.” The fifth place finish gave Jordan his second top five and the third top 10 of the season in the three races at Devils Lake. Next up for the U of M - Crookston / WinField team will be the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event at River Cities Speedway. From there the team will head south to Badlands Motor Speedway in Brandon, SD on Saturday for a night of Dollar Loan Center 410 Sprint Car racing.
