CRARY, ND (May 17) – With the cancellation of River Cities Speedway’s Premiere Racing Series event, the only race on the card for Jordan Adams and the Reynolds United Co-op crew was Saturday night at Devils Lake Speedway (DLS). After moving up one position during his heat race to finish fifth, Jordan took the green flag in the 13th position with last year’s DLS winner, Brenden Wilde, to his outside. Once the green flag dropped, Jordan began picking off cars and making his way towards the front.
“Starting 13th I knew we had our work cut out for us to get to the front,” said Adams. “I was going over scenarios of where I wanted to be by a certain lap and as cautions came out I found myself where I wanted to be.” On lap five, Adams caught a break when five cars were involved in an incident that brought out the red flag and ended the night for a few former series champions. Jordan restarted fifth in a race that was shortened by two circuits due to concerns of the cars running out of fuel. As the race resumed, Adams got up on the wheel and drove all the way up to second with 14 to go. That’s where Jordan would cross the line at the checkers, marking his best finish of the young season. “We avoided a big wreck on the front stretch on a restart that took out 4 or 5 cars that lined up in front of us,” continued Jordan. “Coming away with a 2nd at one of my weakest tracks puts some confidence back on my shoulders after our slow start to the year. Big props to the crew; I had a great car in the heat and the feature. Got a tick free towards the end of the race, but for the most part we had a pretty solid car.” This weekend will be a busy one for the Home of Economy team with three events on the schedule starting Friday, May 20th at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks. “We're going to focus on one race at a time, so Friday I hope our momentum continues into the highly anticipated Badlands opener. Then Sunday we will be at Buffalo River. We will most likely be running two different cars Friday and Saturday, so just a slight transition over to the other car will be somewhat of a challenge.” SEASON STATS: Races: 3 Wins: 0 Top Five’s: 1 Top Ten’s: 1 Heat Wins: 0 UPCOMING EVENTS: May 20th- River Cities Speedway – Grand Forks, ND May 21st – Badlands Motor Speedway – Brandon, SD May 22nd – Buffalo River Race Park – Glyndon, MN Recap by Mike Spieker, Photo by Adrienne Gahm -- Speedway Shots | Spieker Promotions
